A message from Superintendent Lloyd W. Graham regarding accountability ratings

As the Texas Education Agency released accountability ratings for schools and districts across the state, many Houston /Gulf Coast area schools received a “not rated” label due to Hurricane Harvey’s impact. Despite the fact that almost 500 homes in La Porte ISD were significantly damaged or destroyed as a result of the storm, La Porte ISD was not eligible to receive this waiver. (more...)

Dress code undergoes some changes for 2018-19

Oversized clothing, trench coats and dusters will not be allowed at La Porte ISD campuses when the new school year begins, according to the 2018-19 dress code. The district made several changes to the code as part of its enhanced security plan, which also prohibits purses in excess of eight inches-by-ten inches, and requires that backpacks, satchels and briefcases be clear, transparent or mesh. 2018-2019 School Hours for Students

The high school campus schedule will remain essentially unchanged, while La Porte and Lomax Junior High Schools will now run the same schedule as the high school campuses. (more...)

Campus doors will open at 6:45 a.m., with the first bell at 7:05 a.m. and the tardy bell at 7:15 a.m. The school day will end at 2:50 p.m.

Extracurricular activities on the junior high campuses, including fine arts and athletics, will occur during the appropriate class period and at the end of the school day after 2:50 p.m. There will be no athletic practices before school.

At the elementary schools and James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus, the campus doors will open at 7:15 a.m.; to accommodate family schedules, this time remains the same as in 2017-18. The first bell will ring at 8 a.m., followed by the tardy bell at 8:10 a.m. School will end at 3:45 p.m.
