Based on Monday's reports concerning the fire at the site on Independence Parkway, La Porte ISD plans to hold school, as usual, Tuesday, March 19, with regular start times and transportation routines. As you know, the safety of students and staff is our top priority, and we have continued to work closely with emergency management officials to monitor the situation. As of this morning, the shelter-in-place for the City of Deer Park was lifted, and Highway 225 was re-opened. Wind information and air quality readings were also stable throughout the day. Again, we are grateful to the first responders and other individuals who are working to ensure the safety of our community. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday. Please note: dates and times are subject to change. If this happens, you will receive a note or phone call informing you of any changes to our calendar events.
Please make sure to send back your child's signed permission slip to the teacher by Wednesday, February 27th. If you misplace the slip, print one off of this post, fill it out and send it back to school with your student. Students who do not have a signed permission slip will not be allowed to attend this field trip. Chaperones for this trip MUST have a cleared "Volunteer Application" online with LPISD. Directions on how to fill out the online application are further down on this site.
Please return the permission slip sent home with your student on Friday, March 1st. If you have misplaced the permission slip sent home, please print a copy of the one attached to this post on March 1st and return it to your child's teacher. This is a very important field trip for our 5th grade students. However, if they do not have a signed permission slip, they will not be allowed to attend this trip.
