Lomax Jr. High School eighth grader Breeyana Limon will join two other La Porte ISD art students this summer at the prestigious Glassell Junior School of Art.
Jackson Tarr, Crosby ISD’s defensive coordinator, will become the next head football coach of the La Porte Bulldogs. Lisa Basile and Jose Lozano, meanwhile, will take over the principal helm for the 2021-22 school year at Bayshore and Leo A. Rizzuto Elementary schools, respectively.
The 17th Annual La Porte Education Foundation Golf Tournament held on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, raised more than $32,00. The money will be used to fund innovative, creative instructional projects that benefit the students and teachers of the La Porte Independent School District.
When David Hernandez crosses the La Porte High School graduation stage on May 28, he’ll still have some unfinished Bulldog business. Hernandez, on June 12, will represent La Porte in the 2021 Bayou Bowl as an offensive lineman on the East team. The game is set to be played at Stallworth Stadium in Baytown.
Junior Nicholas Canales has become the first La Porte High School golfer since 1983 to qualify for the UIL state tournament.
La Porte ISD assistant principals Jesse Loudermilk and Blake Minor will be the next principals of The Academy of Viola DeWalt High School and La Porte Jr. High School, respectively. Julie Abram, Dickinson ISD’s director of advanced academic programs, meanwhile, has been named the district’s executive director of teaching and professional learning, a new position whose purpose is providing leadership and supervision in curriculum and instructional development, revision, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of the district’s curriculum. Her charge also includes oversight of the district’s professional learning.
The La Porte High School Varsity Treble Choir ended the 2021 contest season on a high note by winning the coveted UIL Sweepstakes award.
