La Porte ISD is pleased to announce the upcoming Paraprofessional Institute, a comprehensive three-day course designed for individuals aspiring to meet the qualifications necessary to become a classroom aide.  The Paraprofessional Institute offers a streamlined path for those who do not hold 48 college hours or an associate degree but wish to enter the field of education as a paraprofessional. The course covers essential topics including: 

• Roles and Responsibilities of Paraprofessionals: Understand the key functions and duties of a classroom aide.
• Educational Laws: Gain insight into the legal aspects and regulations impacting the education sector.
• Learning Strategies: Learn effective methods to support diverse learning needs in the classroom.
• Basic Skills in Reading, Writing, and Math: Develop foundational skills to assist students in core academic areas.

As an added benefit, the final day of the course will feature a mini-job fair, providing graduates with the opportunity to meet with potential employers and possibly secure a job offer on the spot.
